MMSK Mission
The mission of the Montessori Middle School of Kentucky (MMSK) is to serve the adolescent guided by the educational philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori. The program is designed to respond in an age appropriate way to the young adolescent's social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs.
Introduction
In the summer of 1994, a handful of dedicated parents gathered for the first time to create a Montessori middle school for their children. Parents from Providence Montessori, Lexington Montessori, Versailles Montessori and Community Montessori attended this meeting. Together they formed the corporation, obtained a commitment from the first teacher and enrolled students. The Montessori Middle School of Kentucky was on its way and is now an extension of Community Montessori School (CMS). MMSK is currently attending classes at First Christian Church at 1305 Audubon Avenue, just off Nicholasville Road. With and eye to the furture of MMSK on the Stone Road property.
Comment from First Christian Church liaison Joe Esenbock, Jr.
The relationship First Christian has with MMSK is building each and everyday. The teachers and administrators of MMSK and CMS are constantly building better young adults. It is a pleasure to have the students, teachers and staff at First Christian. MMSK has been with First Christian now for 8 years and the church families look forward to each new school year.
The respect shown by the students each new school year is always up lifting for me, I look forward to seeing them in the building even though I some times give them a fright.
