"In October, 1939, one could, if so inclined, do any of the following: dine at the Canary Cottage, meet a friend over a nickel coke at the Phoenix Drug, catch a train to anyplace at the Union Station, take in a ball game at Stoll Field, or go dancing at Joyland. You could also attend Worship service at First Christian Church. Only the last named activity is still possible, as all of these other institutions have long since vanished. 50 years from now it will still be possible to attend services at First Church."

   October 10, 2004, First Christian celebrated the 65th Anniversary of the church. Jack Austin, former youth minister, was the speaker for the day, Jack lead us down memory lane and then to the foot of the cross. Attendance was over 300. The Hewletts, Richard Giles, and Barbara Esenbock Frizzell presented the special music for this day. A meal was provided and great fellowship was enjoyed by all, re-acquaining with old friends.
   October 21, 2007,  the church celabrated the 68th Anniversary, speaking was Ernie Perry a former youth minister of First and now with Southland Christian Church. The music was provided by "The Master Servants" and "The Diggles Family". Special recoginition was give to the three remaing charter members, Betty Bowman Esenbock, Betty Easley Peters, and Chester Harold Easley. Following the service a pitch in meal on the grounds was enjoyed by all.
   October 26, 2008,  What and exciting day the 69th Anniversary was, this was the day Dan Roberts former youth minister of First spoke and visited with the church family. Rick Hawthorn, "The Diggles Family" and "The 4 Elders" provide the special music for this day. There were 135 pepole in attendance and we enjoyed a great meal after the service. There are now only 2 remaing charter members living Betty Easley Peters, and Chester Harold Easley.

  September 17, 2009, 70 years, First Christian has servered the Lord and we continue to look forward in and for His church. Former Minister Ronnie Hupp spoke during the morning worship hour with attendance topping 125 a great message was given. The on growns meal followed the morning worship and the numbers grew to 150. Former Ministeer Gene Welsh spoke for the Anniversary. Gene presented a message of keep on keeping on, don't look back, look forward for His church.

                                                                                                     

                                                                                                       

For 35 years First Christian Church has provied parking for the Football games, the cost for parking has always been a donation to the First Christian Youth Fund. The parking program was started by Wayne & Linda Fahs, John Fryman, Jeff Elam and others and continues to day with  Wayne & Linda, Dea & Ruth, Dorthy, Betty, Bill and Joe.
